You’d Probably Enjoy These Tools In Your Kitchen

We’re coming to the end of January which typically means some New Years Goals might be starting to wear off. If you had a goal to make more food from home and you’re having a hard time following through, some retail therapy might inspire you to get back into the kitchen.

I’ve gotten to the age where kitchen tools get me very excited, so I’ve pulled together some of my favorite products that will make your life easier and more enjoyable…

Lemon Squeezer $13

If life gives you lemons, buy a lemon squeezer press.

If you’ve ever used one of these babies, you’ll know how truly life changing they are.* I drink lemon water daily so this takes the time out of “prepping” the lemons. Just cut them in half and squeeze ’em with this tool. So easy and I promise you’ll get a bang for your buck.

*Not an exaggeration.

Milk Frother

Alas, the product that inspired this whole post. I’m a sucker for good kitchen tools, and this one takes the cake. I loooove my handheld frother (I’ve had it for 5+ years), only $17, but if you want to level up, opt for this 2-in-1 frother and heater ($46). You’ll have the perfect homemade lattes in no time (I use mine for homemade matcha lattes).

Cheese Boards

Slate (Anthropologie, $22), Agate (Nordstrom, $78)

Who doesn’t love a good cheese board? It all starts with the board itself, so choose wisely. I’ve included two of my favorites above. When you’re not using them for charcuterie, you can use them as trivets, flatlays, and cake platters.

If you want to know how to craft a cheese board like a true master, watch this video and thank me (and my cousin) later.

Apron, $25

Ok, this might be a step too far, but I had to include these when I saw them on Etsy. Might be too much for day to day, but its a cute gift and great for long cooking days around holidays or nights you might be entertaining.

Ninja Air Fryer $119

I can’t justify buying this just yet since the space in my college apartment kitchen is very limited, but I’m excited to add this tool to my kitchen as soon as it makes sense to do so. This tool makes it easy to cook basically any type of food to a nice crisp without the use of any oils/ frying. Here are a bunch of recipes that you can use the air fryer for.

Cookbooks

So you’ve made it to your kitchen and you have all the tools you need… now what?!

Here are some of the best cookbooks I’ve found (based on personal experience or reviews).

  1. To learn how to cook: Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering The Elements of Good Cooking by Samin Nosrat, $10
  2. If you’re working with what’s already in the fridge: 5 Ingredients: Easy & Quick Food by Jamie Oliver, $20
  3. If you followed my suggestion and bought an Air Fryer: The Skinnytaste Airfryer Cookbook by Gina Homolka, $11.
  4. If you’re vegan and/or in college: The College Vegan Cookbook: 145 Affordable, Healthy & Delicious Plant-Based Recipes by Heather Nicholds, $12.

Have a favorite recipe that I’m missing? Let me know in the comments below.

Now that you’ve got the fun bits of shopping for the kitchen done, it’s time to chef it up! Happy cookin’, good lookin’.

    1. Hey Abby! Super simple 🙂 I tap about 1 tablespoon of this (http://bit.ly/30SE4fd) matcha powder, add about 1/3 cup of hot water and use my hand frother (above) to mix it, then I pour in oat milk until the top, microwave it again so its hot, and use the frother. Enjoy! x
